generic545@gmail.com, Esq.
My Dear generic545@gmail.com,

Firstly, I'd like to humbly and warmly welcome you, generic545@gmail.com, to our community's forum. The Ascendancy is a Collegial Theodemocratic Feudal Republic of planets across The Metaverse that is connected by a series of portals as divined by The Prophet. Praise Be The People!

Secondly, I'd like to inform you of our policies on citizenship due to their eccentric nature; you're given partial citizenship status; for, you, as an Outlander, are automatically selected a Fiefdom to be a part of, but afterwords you may choose to join another one and leave the one selected for you. As an Outlander, you are given the right to vote for your fiefdom's representative, and have some other basic rights, but are not granted full citizenship. This applies to you even if your sole aim was to represent your organization within The Ascendancy. To obtain full citizenship, you must engage in meritorious actions to earn Merit points wherein you purchase a title of nobility to obtain full citizenship status; for a more in-depth information on this, look here: http://ascendia.jfbs.net/index.php?act=Help&CODE=01&HID=17 . If you are a dignitary from a foreign realm, please look here to apply: http://ascendia.jfbs.net/index.php?showtopic=63

Below are questions merely meant to spark conversation to break the ice, and for all of us to get to know each other a lot better. If you don't feel comfortable answering them, and/or wish to skip a few, then that shall be completely fine.

How did you come up with your nation's name?

What form of government does your nation have?

Does your nation's government reflect your political beliefs?

If not, do you hold any political beliefs that you wish to share?

Do you have any fields of study that interest you? If so, which ones?

Is there any form of cultural media -- books, shows, games, et cetera -- that you enjoy? If any, care to elaborate?

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Do you have any hobbies?

Tell us something interesting about yourself.

Before I forget, I must inform you that if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them below.

Sincerely,

How did you come up with your nation's name?

I thought it sounded funny. Worked out pretty well with the whole Citizen honorific.

What form of government does your nation have?

A progressive deliberative democracy.

Does your nation's government reflect your political beliefs?

Somewhat.

If not, do you hold any political beliefs that you wish to share?

Not particularly, though I would not be opposed to explaining my thoughts on the matter if asked by others.

Do you have any fields of study that interest you? If so, which ones?

Pretty much everything I listed in my user bio.

Is there any form of cultural media -- books, shows, games, et cetera -- that you enjoy? If any, care to elaborate?

In terms of anime I hold FLCL above all else. With music I highly esteem the Pixies, The Pillows, Pavement (the "three P's" if you will), Big Black, mclusky, The Breeders, Frank Black, Melt Banana, Chelsea Light Moving, and Sonic Youth among others. I tend to read non-fiction; some of my favorites in that arena would be Critique of Pure Reason, An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, Pragmatism, The Will to Believe, The Ego and Its Own, The Gay Science, Kingdom of Fear, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, and Fool the World: An Oral History of a Band Called Pixies. When it comes to the fictive universe I hold Atlas Shrugged, Justine, Youth in Revolt, the Euthyphro and Trial Socratic dialogues, Lolita, Invitation to a Beheading, The Plague, and others in high regard.

I am quite partial to Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4, The Saboteur, GTA: San Andreas and IV, Just Cause 2, Hearts of Iron II, Europa Universalis III, Civilization IV, Airline Tycoon Deluxe, Mount and Blade: Warband, Heavy Rain, Earth Defense Force 2017, Bushido Blade, DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball, Persona 4, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and NV, Dynasty Warriors 3, Deadly Premonition (who can say no to the Twin Peaks of video games?), Urbz: Sims in the City, The Sims 2 (PS2 and PC), Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition, Rulers of Nations: Geo-Political Simulator 2, Hitman: Blood Money, Tropico 2: Pirates Cove, X-COM: Enemy Unknown (the original), Red Faction 2 and Guerrilla, Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, KOTOR, C&C: Generals, ARMA 1 and 2, COD 4 (I will defend this one if I have to), Counter-Strike: Source, Supreme Ruler 2020, Victoria II, and many others.

Movie-wise, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Children of Men, Southland Tales, Inglourious Basterds, The Trotsky, and Oldboy are all classics in their own right. Scott Pilgrim also figures into my favored comics, along with Logicomix, the Metal Gear Solid Omnibus, DMZ, V for Vendetta, Transmetropolitan, Superman: Red Son, Kick-Ass, and Wanted (I am a big fan of Mark Millar). In terms of shows I like The Secret Life of the American Teenager (I have seen every episode AT LEAST once, new one premiers tonight!), Twin Peaks, Freaks and Geeks, Noah's Ark, PBS News Hour, BBC News, and Workaholics.

As an aside, I would like to mention Mark Prindle, Immanuel Kant, David Hume, Friedrich Nietzsche William James, Bertrand Russell, Socrates, Frank Black, Adam Sessler, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the Marquis de Sade, Iggy Pop, Steve Albini, Max Stirner, Karl Marx, M.C Ride, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew W.K, Anthony Fantano, Hideo Kojima, moot, Ru Paul, Teddy Roosevelt, and innumerable others as some of my major sources of inspiration/respect.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Reading, writing, listening to music, playing/practicing/jamming with guitar, hanging with friends, masturbating, checking up on the news, going on aimless walks.

Do you have any hobbies?

Guitar, philosophy, politics, debate, writing, gaming; in short, too many.

Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I once ran for student president of my high-school and lost by huge margins.

high school student council elections are basically 97% popularity contest, 2% drama, and 1% actual ideas/ability. I won student council president in my freshman year because I was on open enrollment and the other two candidates came from rival schools. I was the lesser of all of the evils and looked good on TV. Of course, I learned after that that student council was generally a total waste of time, besides the ability of gaining contacts and reputation.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head there. I was animated by a sense of Jamesian optimism and mislead by the omnipresence of a dedicated cult following. Managed to activate a largely untapped segment of the vote that ultimately proved insignificant. In any case, the ordeal served as a personal validation of my potential, and helped elevate me into the public spotlight.
